Motorcycle Collision Reconstruction Course

This 40 hour advanced reconstruction course focuses specifically on the identification, documentation, and analysis of motorcycle collisions.

Students will be introduced to different formulae used in the analysis of various types of motorcycle collisions. During the course, the student will develop Excel spreadsheets to assist in the analysis of future collision data. A familiarization with Microsoft Excel is helpful but not essential. Learning is accomplished by way of classroom lectures, and practical hands-on training.

Topics include:

  • Motorcycle collision causation

  • Vehicle inspection and documentation

  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel

  • Motorcycle vehicle dynamics

  • Speed analysis from braking friction marks

  • Estimating braking percentages

  • Sliding friction

  • Speed from gear analysis

  • Speedometer analysis

  • Speed analysis while cornering

  • Angular momentum

  • Motorcycle event data recorders

  • Speed analysis from motorcycle damage

Practical Testing includes:

  • One full day of motorcycle braking, sliding, and collision testing
