Pedestrian / Cyclist Collision Reconstruction Course

This 40 hour advanced reconstruction course focuses specifically on the identification, documentation and analysis of pedestrian and bicycle collisions. Students are introduced to the many different approaches to speed analysis. During the course, students will develop their own spreadsheets for speed analysis. This spreadsheet will help the student visualize and understand the comparison of different pedestrian formulae. A familiarization with Microsoft Excel is helpful but not essential. Learning is accomplished by way of classroom lectures, and practical hands-on training.

Topics include:

  • Evidence identification and documentation

  • Delta V analysis from pedestrian fall & slide

  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel

  • Pedestrian Velocity analysis

  • Using technology to assist with the collision analysis

  • Human factors

  • Bicycle collisions

  • Time & Distance analysis

Practical Testing includes:

  • Half day of pedestrian collision testing
